High chemical resistance for chemicals with the highest solvency plus also, HCl and HF.
The SPI Supplies brand of nitrile gloves have been carefully selected because of their high resistance to high solvency liquids including those commonly found in electron microscope laboratories such as ethylene dichloride, chloroform, cellosolve and various perfluorinated solvents such as Castrol Fluoroclean™ HE, Fluoroclean X100, and Perfluorosolv® PFS-2, ethylene dichloride and chloroform.

Dimensions:
All of the nitrile gloves on this page are just under 13" (330mm) long (fingertip to end). The exception is the Size 7 glove which is only 12" (305 mm) long.
The glove (nitrile) thickness is 0.011" (0.28 mm).
Chemical resistance:
In addition to the high solvency organics, the SPI nitrile gloves are also highly resistant to strong acids such as hydrochloric acid (HCl), chromic acid and hydrofluoric acid (HF). They also offer good protection against sodium hydroxide. Nitrile is the preferred glove when working with laboratory fixatives such as osmium tetroxide and glutaraldehyde. The SPI nitrile gloves are the ultimate glove for everything!
We would not recommend using these gloves if exposure is possible to methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), nitrobenzene, benzene, toluene, styrene, or THF.
The SPI nitrile gloves are 11 mils thick, pin-hole free, and yet still have the tactile characteristics almost as good as a latex examination glove. And unlike other gloves of other constructions, the SPI nitrile gloves are also manufactured with out the use of any powder anti-sticking agent. The gloves are 100% powder-free, and unlined. The gloves arrive ready to use and do not require further washing prior to some critical application.
In addition to the remarkable chemical resistance, the nitrile polymer also exhibits outstanding tear resistance, and will out last by many times a common latex examination glove.
A few words of caution:
No nitrile gloves, including the SPI Supplies Brand of gloves, will withstand a complete immersion into one of the above listed liquids and remain completely inert for some indefinite period of time. Eventually the glove will fail. Just remember that the gloves were designed as protection against an occasional splash or spill, not for immersion in a strong chemical solvent. Only a PTFE(polytetrafluoroethylene) glove (we don't know if such gloves exist) would be able to be immersed for an indefinite period of time into these liquid agents.
Barrier properties for pathogens:
The absence (or near absence) of pin-holes is an important distinguishing characteristic of nitrile gloves. Some of our customers handling rodent filth where there are concerns about hantavirus (among others) use nitrile exclusively for protection. What pin-holes might indeed be present seem to be far smaller than the pin-holes normally found in latex examination gloves.
