Rubber Gasket for Bell Jar, 12 inch diameter.
Buna-N L-gasket.
Used for SPI Vacu-Prep II Vacuum Evaporators.

Bell jar gaskets have an L-shaped cross-section. The bell jar sits inside of the "L" and is sealed against the base with the lower side of the horizontal surface creating a vacuum-tight seal.

To ensure a good seal, many users lubricate the bell jar gaskets with an Apiezon hydrocarbon grease or a Dow Corning High Vacuum grease. If potential silicon contamination is of concern, then hydrocarbon grease should only be used. A very small amount of grease is needed to ensure a very thin coating is applied. Do not over grease.
