SPI Supplies Brand Combined Test Specimen on TEM Grid
This specimen consists of small gold islands on a perforated carbon film, with areas of graphitized carbon. The holes in the film can be used to provide information on instrument operation similar to the familiar use of the Fresnel fringe in holey carbon films. The graphitized carbon particles are best observed where they overlap the holes; they have a characteristic lattice spacing of 0.34 nm. The gold islands give a coarse measure of particle to particle resolution, and some of the gold particles will be suitably oriented to yield a gold lattice image.
Some have also found it to be a useful means for measuring contamination rates in a TEM column.
Mounted on a 3.05mm copper, 200 mesh grid.
