Araldite 6005, sometimes also called Araldite GY 6005, is the resin of choice in a number of different microscopy-oriented embedding formulations. It is a light-colored, medium viscosity, general purpose modified bisphenol A epoxy resin. It can be cured with a wide variety of hardeners depending on the application and the desired properties.
Araldite 6005 should be stored in a dry place in the original sealed containers, at temperatures between 2°C and 40°C (36°F and 104°F). After use, tightly reseal containers. The product should not be exposed to direct sunlight. Like most liquid epoxy resins, Araldite 6005 may crystallize when stored below room temperature. Heating the crystallized resin to 60 -70°C (140 -160°F), preferably in a water bath, for several hours, may restore its original physical properties.
Diluent: Some protocols require a "thinning" of the Araldite 6005 resin and the recommended diluent, which will also act as a solvent for the resin, is propylene oxide.
