Wire specially manufactured for use in vacuum evaporators for the vacuum evaporation of certain metal wires that can be wrapped around this tungsten wire and evaporated as a thin film coating on to small substrates. This is a lower cost alternative than purchasing already-made tungsten baskets. However, some metals, such as gold alloy very quickly with tungsten and while more expensive, the baskets might be the more appropriate choice if the wire fails before sufficient metal has been evaporated. Wire has been pre-cleaned.
