Immersion Oils
The first non-drying immersion oil was originated by Cargille Laboratories and announced in 1940. Since then, Cargille has maintained its leadership by introducing the first oils with high viscosity, low fluorescence, fully published optical and physical properties, technical services supported by a dedicated Refractive Index R&D Laboratory capable of primary calibrations and computer modeling of new formulations and their properties. Often times one forgets that the real advantage of a non-drying oil is that it will not change properties when exposed to the atmosphere.
Now five standard types are available with the introduction of Type NVH, an intermediate, very high viscosity oil.
